Food / Kim Chi home made
« Last post by Book_meister on October 11, 2020, 11:13:48 AM »
Working on Kim   Chi   made with brussel  sprouts, leek and carrots.  Tried some after it sat all night.  I will repack some with siracha and some with cayene, some with no heat.

David

Have been nibbling on my creation it is tasty, different than what I have purchased at the farmer's market, I toned the heat down a bit.

Had some today in my egg creation.  Whip two eggs in a bowl.  Heating a stove top griddle that has round indentations to make separate items.  I put some finely chopped kim chi in there with butter, let that cook a bit.  Then pour the egg into the rounds and let them cook til firm.  Italian bread toasted on to a dinner plate.  Put the egg on the toast.  Swiss cheese on top and microwave for 20 seconds.  Dill and black pepper on top Yum Yum

Maybe the first brussel sprout leek and carrot with swiss cheese omelet ever created.  Tasty.

Food / Steel cut oats
« Last post by Book_meister on October 06, 2020, 07:26:22 PM »
Picked up a package and have been having them for breakfast occasionally.  First made them in in microwave a bit more  complicated than oatmeal.  A suggestion on the package was to put them in a slow cooker for 6 hours.  I put some in to the toaster oven and ran it under 200 degrees.  I got up in the middle of the night and checked them they seemed about done so I cut back on the heat.  I went too far and the heat was never on after I adjusted it.  I added a bit of water and reheated the oats in the microwave.  Turned out well.  I have since made two more helpings and got the time and heat right. The oats are crunchy, different than old fashioned oatmeal.  I liberally put butter in to my oats and wheat breakfast cereals. I often mix in other things too that I have mentioned in previous threads.

I was sorry to hear that Jim Gibson has passed away.  He dealt in punk among other kinds of vinyl.  He was from the Westchester Co/White Plains, NY area.  Some of the other local record guys came up through his store.

Food / Re: 2 new food items: NECCO wafers + Girl Scout Cookies

As I have said before, I experiment with adding things to oatmeal.  Lately I tried adding eggs to the bowl.  I put two eggs in and then the half cup of oatmeal and one cup of water. It took a bit longer to cook.  60% power for 3 minutes in the microwave was not enough.  It took another minute at the same setting.  It was different, nothing spectacular.  For those who want some protein with their morning cereal it was fine.  Egg yolk was firm.  Probably could beat the egg and then mix the oatmeal into the egg for something slightly different.

Girl Scouts will have a new cookie in 2021: toast-yay

Under any other brand (Nabisco, Sunshine, Keebler…) I wouldn't bw tempted.

But with the Girl Scout imprimatur, I look forward to their debut. :)
